The Symposium consists of informative sessions on geometric design issues throughout the world, featuring recent developments in road design, policy and practices.

There are three components to the event: the Symposium - podium and poster sessions, Workshops and Technical Tours. To register for the Workshops and Technical Tours, you must be registered for the symposium (lectern and poster sessions).

Symposium Registration includes access to 3 days of lectern sessions, poster sessions, lunches (Tuesday and Wednesday), admission to the two social events (see below for details). Click here for an overview of the Symposium program.

Registration Dates

Invited Author Rate
> Invited Authors will receive an email with a discount code.
> Not applicable if registering after June 15th.

Student Rate
> Students will be required to present a current valid student ID at the conference registration desk. Limited to first 30 students registered.

Group Rate
>Take a group of six or more from your organization to the Symposium and save 15% off the published Symposium registration rates by registering together as one group. In order to receive the group discount, send an email to with the following information for each group member:


> You will then be sent a discount code which you can use during the on-line registration process. (Each member will need to be registered separately.
> Invited Authors are welcome to register at the discounted rate or as part of a group. They are not eligible for both discounts.
> You may register your group offline - after you receive your group discount code, download the Group Registration - Manual Form.
> Review the Group Registration Policy under Terms and Conditions.

Social Events

> Plans are underway for two social events. Entrance is included with your symposium registration. Bringing your spouse or significant other? Be sure to purchase the companion tickets so that they can join in on the fun!
> Reception on the Terrace - Monday, 22 June, 18:00-19:30 
       Enjoy the sun, a cocktail or two, live music and network with your colleagues. A perfect opportunity to connect with old                      colleagues and meet new ones. There will be hors d'oeuvres to snack on before you head out for dinner. 
> Our Vancouver - A Multi-Cultural Experience - Tuesday 23 June, 18:15
       Experience Vancouver through our multicultural lens. Vancouver is a great cosmopolitan city and people from all over the                  world now call Vancouver home. This dinner event will include music and dance from the city’s four major culture groups. 


The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel is the venue for the Symposium. We have contracted a special Symposium group rate for all registered delegates - Please note that there are a limited number of rooms left at the Fairmont Waterfront. Workshops have been carefully selected and prepared to give you more opportunity to discuss and learn more about current trends and latest research in highway geometric design and highway safety. 


> Workshops in each session run concurrently. You may register for one workshop in each session.

Space is limited to a maximum of 35 attendees. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
Workshop 1 is an 8 hour session straddling Sunday afternoon and Monday morning and costs $195. 
Workshops 2-7 are four hours in length on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning and cost $125 each. 

Technical Tours

The Greater Vancouver metropolitan area has recently completed significant and challenging highway geometric design projects and has implemented an extensive bicycle road network.

The 2015 International Symposium on Highway Geometric Design will highlight three of the most recent examples with tours of:  

1.  The Gateway Project
2.  The Sea-To-Sky Highway 
3.  Bike Roadways of Vancouver


> Each tour is simultaneous - you may only register for one tour.
Tours are $75 each. A boxed lunch is included in the fee.

Tours are scheduled for the afternoon of 24 June 2015.

Delegate List

Delegates must provide their consent for their contact information (full name, title, organization name, province/state, email address) to be included on ISHGD’s delegate list which may be provided to conference delegates, exhibitors and select partners.

Terms and Conditions

> Registration and all other fees are in Canadian $ and includes 5% GST.
Payment via credit cards, wire transfer payments or cheques are accepted. (For the latter two options, download the manual registration form above.
Delegates registering on-site must pay by credit card. 
Delegates whose payment has not been received at the time of check-in at the registration desk will be required to pay the on-site rate to gain access to the conference. 
    > Full refunds of all fees will be issued until 28 February 2015.
     > Refunds of 75% issued until 15 May 2015. 
     > No refunds will be given after 16 May 2015.
     > Refund requests must be made in writing by the dates specified via email to 
     > If the Closing Social Event is cancelled, refunds of $90 CDN will be refunded to all those who have previously registered for the symposium and/or           purchased companion tickets.


    > Discount of 15% applies to Symposium Registration fees at the Attendee rates (not to be applied to "Invited Author" or "Student" rate categories)
    > Group members must be employed at the same corporate, government or university organization and email addresses must match the organization        domain.
    > Invited Authors are welcome to register at the discounted rate or as part of a group. They are not eligible for both discounts.

    > If using the online registration process, the group must be registered individually within 48 hours of the first registration. 
    > If using the manual registration process, all registrations must be booked at one time and payment received in full as per the payment policy. 
    > The 15% Group Discount does not apply to workshops, technical tours, social events or hotel reservations.
    > Booking as a group does not guarantee conference hotel room bookings.  Hotel room bookings are on a first come first serve basis for the reserved           room block available to the Symposium.
    > Refunds applied as per the cancellation policy.
    > Must agree to all terms and conditions.

> Transoft Solutions, Inc. reserves the right to decline registrations received past registration deadlines, incomplete registration forms and for any other reason deemed not to be favourable to the success of the Symposium.  Any declined registrations shall be refunded as per our refund policy.  
> Registration is not considered complete until payment has been received. Transoft reserves the right to make changes to fees and other terms and conditions without prior notice.
